Job summary

National Student Clearinghouse is seeking a Technical Specialist, Threat Operations to act as a senior operational leader within Cyber Operations. You will oversee detection, triage, investigation, and response while owning strategic elements like threat intelligence and CTEM.

Remote-first with periodic on-site work near Herndon, VA, requiring travel when needed. You will guide analysts and partners, align with MITRE ATT&CK, and implement AI-assisted workflows with strong emphasis on data

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, IT or related field with combination of education and experience considered.
• Active certifications such as CISSP, CISM, GIAC, CySA+, Microsoft Security, or cloud security certifications.
• 10+ years of direct cybersecurity operations, incident response, or threat analysis experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee detection, triage, and validation of security alerts with evidence-based disposition.
• Translate technical findings into clear risk-based recommendations and actionable next steps.
• Lead high-severity incident escalation with proper scoping, documentation, and remediation to closure.
• Develop CTEM strategy, operating model, and threat operations program roadmap.
• Lead threat intelligence lifecycle from requirements to dissemination and feedback.
• Ensure MITRE ATT&CK coverage and measurable detection/response outcomes.
• Drive AI-assisted workflows with human-in-the-loop validation and governance.
