Job summary

MKS Newport is looking for a Senior Thin Film Engineer to join the Thin Film Engineering team. You will develop, support, and maintain coating designs and processes, reporting to the Director of Thin Film Engineering.

You will collaborate with design engineers and technicians to optimize ion beam sputtering, ion assist and electron beam coating processes for our thin film coatings group. Compensation reflects a senior engineering role in a high-tech environment.

Qualifications

Bachelor degree required with 3–5 years in a thin film manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated ability to correlate film performance with deposition hardware and processes.
Experience troubleshooting and solving complex thin film issues.

Responsibilities

Develop, design and optimize optical thin film deposition processes (ion beam sputtering, ion assist, electron beam).
Coordinate with design engineers and technicians to resolve process issues and characterize coating chambers.
Characterize equipment and processes to reduce downtime and improve quality and cost.
Manage defects with root cause analysis and implement continual improvements.
Document processes and train team members; support technicians and maintenance personnel.
