Job summary

Google Sunnyvale, CA is seeking a Senior Mechanical and Systems Engineer to design and optimize IT/data center thermal systems from chip to data center architecture, enabling scalable cooling for Google's compute infrastructure.

You will lead cross-functional teams, mentor junior engineers, and ensure reliability of cooling technologies while driving cost-effective performance in cutting-edge hardware powering Google services.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in advanced thermal management and product design in thermal systems (air & liquid cooling, TIMs, heat sinks, cold plates, high power chip, tray, system/rack cooling).
• 5 years of experience in modeling analyses, CFD tools, and experimental characterization including wind tunnels, thermal chambers, and IT system thermal characterization.
• Experience leading project teams related to thermal management technology and product development.

Responsibilities

• Lead qualification of thermal products from concept through production and deployment with cross-functional teams and external vendors.
• Contribute to system architecture from chip to data center, making tradeoffs to optimize Total Cost of Ownership.
• Develop holistic thermal/mechanical/system designs from package to data center level for cost and efficiency, while innovating for performance.
• Design thermal management hardware including heat sinks, heat exchangers, air movers, pumps, and cooling systems.
• Establish specifications and test procedures to ensure reliability and performance, mentoring and supervising teams.
