Job summary

RTX is seeking an experienced Principal Thermal Engineer to join the MA&T Department. The role emphasizes detailed thermal analyses across product lifecycles, from design studies to production support, using hand methods and finite element tools.

You will plan tests, reduce data, and present findings to customers and peers. The candidate should lead thermal analysts on major programs, demonstrate strong problem solving, and be able to work independently within cost and schedule constraints.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM with 8+ years of relevant experience; Master’s can substitute for years of experience.
• Experience in thermal analysis with FloTHERM, PATRAN, Thermal Desktop/SINDA or ANSYS.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities; strong understanding of mechanical principles.
• Experience in thermal testing: planning, execution, data reduction and correlation.
• Demonstrated experience in leading a team of thermal analysts on major program efforts.
• Ability to obtain a U.S. government security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Perform hand calculations to scope higher detail analysis models.
• Carry out detailed thermal analyses to address program challenges.
• Generate test plans to validate analyses and verify hardware.
• Analyze test data to validate and correlate models.
