Job summary

Super Micro Computer is seeking a Sr. Thermal Engineer to lead the thermal architecture, design, analysis, and validation of cooling technologies (liquid and air) for networking servers and data storage products.

The role centers on estimating, simulating, and testing thermal performance while championing a rigorous design process. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in heat transfer and fluid dynamics, excellent leadership, and hands-on experience guiding junior engineers through

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master’s degree in mechanical or Aerospace engineering or equivalent
• 8+ years direct IT/server industry experience preferred
• Experience running CFD thermal/cooling simulation software (Icepak or FloTHERM)
• Experience with liquid cooling solutions including coldplate/manifold design
• Hands-on experience with heat sinks, air shrouds, fan ducts and cooling fans
• Experience with computer system level thermal testing and data acquisition
• Experience running stress programs and scripts under Windows and Linux environments
• Strong communication skills and ability to lead in a fast-paced team environment

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize, plan, and execute the design and development of liquid and air cooling solutions for servers, storages, and workstations
• Collaborate with motherboard, chassis, power supply, and system teams to optimize layout and component placement
• Validate thermal compliance of systems and components to industry standards
• Summarize and present thermal/cooling data to engineering teams, vendors, and customers
• Investigate new techniques to advance cooling schemes and thermal management
• Interface with contract manufacturers and vendors for cooling solution development and improvements
• Provide thermal/cooling support from component to rack level
