Job summary

Supermicro Computer is seeking a Sr. Thermal Engineer to lead thermal architecture, design, analysis, and validation for liquid and air cooling in networking servers and data storage products. The role requires leadership to guide junior engineers and a strong background in heat transfer and fluid dynamics.

The candidate will estimate, simulate, and test thermal performance, collaborating with multiple teams to optimize layouts and drive robust cooling solutions for enterprise electronics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master's degree in mechanical or Aerospace engineering, or equivalent training with minimum 8+ years direct IT/server industry experience is preferred.
• Experience as thermal/ mechanical/ validation engineer in IT/server cooling development is desirable.
• Experience with liquid cooling solutions including coldplate/manifold design.
• Hands-on experience with heat sinks, shroud/fan duct designs and cooling fan components.
• Hands-on experience in computer system level thermal testing and data acquisition.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize, plan, and execute the design and development of Liquid/Air cooling solutions for servers, storages, and workstations.
• Collaborate with motherboard, chassis, power supply, and system teams to optimize layout and component placement.
• Validate thermal compliance of systems and components with regards to industry standards.
• Summarize and present thermal/cooling data to engineering teams, vendors, and customers.
• Investigate and identify new techniques to advance cooling schemes and thermal management.
• Interface with contract manufacturers and vendors for cooling solution developments and improvements.
• Provide thermal/cooling technical supports from component to rack level.
