Job summary

Anduril Industries, Inc. is seeking a Senior Thermal Engineer to own the thermal management of expeditionary AI/HPC data centers—air- and liquid-cooled, modular, and transportable for forward environments.

You will apply heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and HVAC to keep high-density compute operating reliably in austere settings with limited power and extreme temperatures. Collaboration with electrical, mechanical, and facilities engineers is essential.

Qualifications

• MS or higher in mechanical engineering, applied physics, or related field focused on heat transfer and HVAC.
• In-depth understanding of heat transfer and fluid dynamics.
• 5+ years designing thermal management for data centers or mission-critical infra.
• Full-spectr data center thermal experience: air-side, water-side cooling, and liquid cooling.
• CAD experience with NX or SolidWorks.

Responsibilities

• Own the thermal design and analysis of deployable data center cooling systems from rack to facility.
• Run hand calcs, spreadsheets, and first-order models before detailed design.
• Define cooling architecture—CRAH/CRAC, air-side economization, liquid cooling.
• Develop cooling approaches for high-density racks in austere environments.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and facilities engineers on heat loads.
• Balance reliability, efficiency, and total cost in trade studies.
• Own thermal FEA/CFD models and predict facility performance.
• Lead prototype builds, field testing, commissioning, and validation.
• Present thermal status in reviews with timelines and status.
• Develop internal tools to improve analysis efficiency.
• Support failure reviews with test data and thermal analysis.
