Job summary

Anduril Industries, Inc. is seeking a Senior Thermal Engineer to own the thermal management of expeditionary AI/HPC data centers.

You will apply heat transfer and fluid dynamics expertise to ensure reliable operation in austere environments, guiding design from concept through field deployment. Responsibilities include leading CFD/FEA, developing cooling architectures, and collaborating across engineering teams to optimize performance, reliability, and cost.

Qualifications

• MS or higher in mechanical engineering, applied physics, or related field with focus on heat transfer and HVAC.
• Strong understanding of heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and cooling technologies.
• 5+ years designing thermal management for data centers or critical infrastructure.
• Experience with HVAC system modeling, both steady-state and transient.
• CAD experience with NX or SolidWorks.
• Proficient in Python or MATLAB for thermal analysis.

Responsibilities

• Own thermal design and analysis of deployable data center cooling systems—from rack to facility.
• Perform first-principles analyses using hand calcs, spreadsheets, and MATLAB/Python models.
• Define cooling architectures to maintain equipment within thermal limits.
• Develop cooling approaches for high-density racks in austere environments.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and facilities teams to assess heat loads.
• Lead prototype builds, field tests, and commissioning of cooling designs.
• Present thermal status in reviews and develop internal tools for analysis.
• Support failure reviews with data and thermal analysis.
