Job summary

EVONA is seeking an experienced Senior Thermal Engineer for a remote role supporting a space-based communications constellation.

The role focuses on thermal health and performance of spacecraft in orbit, collaborating with Flight Operations, Software, and Systems teams to keep missions safe and productive.

Senior Thermal Engineer - REMOTE

I'm partnering with a rapidly growing space organization developing and operating a cutting-edge space-based communications constellation, and we're looking for an experienced Senior Thermal Engineer to join the team.

This is a particularly interesting opportunity for a thermal engineer who wants to go beyond traditional design and analysis and work directly with spacecraft operating on orbit.

You'll play a key role in ensuring the thermal health and performance of spacecraft throughout their operational life, working closely with Flight Operations, Software, Systems and Thermal Engineering teams.

What you'll be working on:

• Leading thermal support for on-orbit spacecraft operations
• Monitoring and analysing spacecraft thermal telemetry
• Defining thermal FDIR limits and automated responses
• Troubleshooting and resolving on-orbit thermal anomalies
• Supporting spacecraft CONOPS across different mission phases
• Performing thermal modelling and analysis using tools such as Thermal Desktop
• Supporting spacecraft and subsystem-level thermal testing
• Improving thermal monitoring, operational processes and flight strategies
• Working directly across Thermal, Flight Operations and Software teams

What we’re looking for:

• 5+ years of spacecraft thermal engineering experience
• Strong thermal modelling and analysis background
• Experience with Thermal Desktop or similar tools
• Understanding of spacecraft thermal hardware, testing and operations
• Ability to independently investigate and solve complex thermal problems
• Exposure to Python, MATLAB or similar would be beneficial
• Experience supporting flight hardware or on-orbit spacecraft is highly desirable
