Description

Senior Therapeutic Activities Assistant assists in the development, implementation, coordination, and supervision of recreational and related activities for the MDHC clients, supporting care, socialization, and psychological adjustment. The role supports the hospital's mission to provide high-quality care by complying with regulatory guidelines, meeting agency standards, and obtaining appropriate certification.

Job Duties / Responsibilities
  • Assist the Manager/Lead in developing, coordinating, and maintaining the MDHC program activities.
  • Coordinate and implement daily operations, including scheduling client activities, group placements, and surveys.
  • Ensure all activity documentation supports the treatment plan and is completed timely.
  • Assist with communication to families regarding scheduling, transportation, or interpretation.
  • Provide guidance and support to program staff for activities, events, and trips.
  • Collaborate with the Supervisor/Manager in preparing the activities calendar and staffing schedules.
  • Assist in task delegation among activities staff.
  • Mediate issues within the program team as needed.
  • Contribute to the care plan team by sharing information about clients' activities and behaviors.
  • Participate in delivering activities for participants.
  • Investigate client occurrences, notify the care team, and prepare reports as necessary.
  • Ensure adherence to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Close the program at the end of the last session, ensuring all clients are on their buses.
  • Handle weekend emergency calls from clients, bus companies, and counselors.
  • Participate in meetings and committees as directed.
  • Assist with other programs such as volunteer and recreation activities as needed.
Requirements

Formal Education: Bachelor's degree in a related medical or educational field, or an Associate's Degree with at least two years of relevant experience in recreation, psychology, education, or related fields. Bilingual (Spanish) is preferred.

Two to five years of experience working in a pediatric therapeutic program or related field.

Experience with data entry for documentation is required.
