Job summary

Quintessence Theatre Group in Northwest Philadelphia seeks an experienced Production and Facilities Manager to supervise main stage and educational productions and handle facilities management. The role covers budgeting, scheduling, supplies, and coordinating production departments, with night and weekend work during production periods.

This full-time, salaried position reports to the Executive Director, negotiates contracts with designers and staff, procures technical elements, and ensures

Qualifications

• Experience in production/facility management for theatre, dance, opera, or other live events.
• Exemplary communication skills, both oral and written.
• Experience leading and managing groups of artistic and production collaborators.
• Experience with labor relations, specifically with USA, AEA, and SDC contracts and rules.
• Mastery of common office software, especially Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Calendar, and Zoom.
• Proficiency in CAD software (VectorWorks, Visio) and Adobe Creative Cloud applications preferred.
• Ability to refer to architectural and electrical plans and other documents in production planning.
• Ability to create and edit CAD drawings for event designs and loads.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Experience in carpentry, rigging, sewing, lighting, sound, and projections is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Manage budget and report to Executive Director on spending for all production activities.
• Schedule labor for all production and shop needs.
• Negotiate contract terms for designers and production staff.
• Facilitate production and design meetings between artistic and production teams.
• Manage production calendars and ensure timelines stay on track.
• Negotiate pricing and procure all technical elements needed for productions.
• Ensure productions meet standards of artistry and are on time and on budget.
• Oversee load‑in/out, set construction, lighting and sound installation, and strike.
• Supervise events and education programs, coordinating with outside renters as needed.
• Act as point person for facilities repair and coordinate outside contractors.
