Job summary

Leonardo DRS Airborne and Intelligence Systems seeks a skilled technician to support engineers and scientists, interpret wiring diagrams and specs, and maintain complex testing and QA processes in Frederick, MD.

Responsibilities include training teammates, ensuring safety compliance, and contributing to design and production milestones in a dynamic defense environment.

Qualifications

  • Requires an associate’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in engineering support or similar.
  • Strong decision-making and leadership capabilities.
  • Experience handling small delicate components with ESD practices.
  • Soldering and wire bonding experience is a plus.
  • MRP familiarity is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to engineers and scientists on components, devices, materials, and equipment.
  • Work from wiring drawings and engineering specifications of significant complexity.
  • Interpret SOPs and safety rules and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Train new team members and interface with other departments.
  • Perform testing, document results, and monitor KPIs (quality, stock levels, compliance).
  • Diagnose malfunctions and perform preventative and corrective maintenance.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support to engineers and scientist on complex components, devices, material, products, processes and/or equipment
  • Work from complex wiring and assembly drawings, operation sheets, engineering specifications and sketches and running sheets of significant complexity
  • Interpret and follow written documents such as SOPs and safety rules
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements applicable to the company in accordance with State and Federal regulations and any applicable certification required to maintain the certification
  • Assist in training new team members
  • Interface with other departments to assure efficient flow of information and materials
  • Perform Key Performance Indicators:
  • Quality of finished product (Pass/fail rates)
  • Raw material stock levels
  • Compliance outcomes
  • Diagnose cause of electrical, optical or mechanical malfunction or failure of operational equipment and performs preventative and corrective maintenance
  • Modify complex electrical prototypes to correct functional deviations
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
  • Perform standard testing processes on a variety of equipment and recording results
  • Require knowledge of industry specific tests and testing equipment, alignment and troubleshooting test failures
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Requires an associate’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience in the field or in a related area
  • Must demonstrate strong decision-making and leadership skills.
  • Experienced handling small delicate components, using ESD practices
  • Soldering and wire bonding experience a plus.
  • Experienced in the use of various computer applications, including Access, Excel, and Labview.
  • Experience with MRP a plus.
