Job summary

Atwell is seeking a Senior Field Test Technician to lead testing, inspection, and commissioning of electrical equipment across substations and data centers. The role may be based in AZ, OH, or ID, with 4–5 weeks on, then a week off, and travel as required.

The position requires mentoring, strong documentation, and NETA certification is highly preferred. Must communicate clearly with clients and teams and work independently in the field.

Responsibilities

• Perform visual / mechanical inspections and electrical testing on basic and more advanced electrical devices and circuits.
• Oversee upkeep and maintenance of electrical test equipment and test data records.
• Direct morning safety meetings and contribute to risk assessments and job hazard analysis.
• Review final test reports and project datasheets for client submittals.
• Communicate issues and test failures to clients and implement corrective actions.

Centurion, an Atwell Company, is seeking a Senior Field Test Technician to lead testing, inspection, and commissioning activities across a wide range of electrical equipment and systems including substations and datacenters. The work location will be in either Arizona, Ohio or Idaho depending on your location. Our technicians typically will work four to five weeks on with a week off.

Typical duties include, but are not limited to, performance and management of routine and moderately complex tasks and projects, record keeping, evaluation of test data, and responsibility for the safety of others. The individual is qualified to provide guidance and can perform electrical testing on a comprehensive list of electrical components and systems. In this role, an employee will be expected to develop and demonstrate proficiency regarding the essential functions of the job listed below.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Provide training and mentorship of entry to mid-level employees to complete testing on basic/advanced electrical devices and elementary systems.
• Perform visual / mechanical inspections and electrical testing on basic and more advanced electrical devices and circuits, including:
• Standard equipment
• Meter calibrations
• Electromechanical and solid-state protective relays
• Power quality and load monitoring
• Assist Project Managers in scheduling, budgeting and billing of projects accurately and timely.
• Fully understand the contractual scope and submit Change Order Requests for work beyond given scope
• Oversee upkeep and maintenance of electrical test equipment.
• Provide direction for staging test equipment and materials for project execution.
• Communicate issues and test failures to the client and provide remediation for corrective action.
• Review final test reports and compiled project datasheets for client submittal.
• Direct morning safety meetings and provide input on job hazard analysis and risk mitigation efforts.
• Provide mentoring and training in formal environments and OJT to junior personnel.
