Job summary

RTX is seeking a Senior Test Systems Technician in Cheshire, CT to support critical test equipment and operational systems.

You will perform troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on electrical and electro-mechanical test systems, and develop procedures to improve uptime.

Qualifications

  • AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 8 years relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with electronic and electro-mechanical test systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, mechanical drawings.
  • Must be knowledgeable in all types of electronic test equipment and using schematics.
  • Experience identifying failure root cause down to the component level.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools for reporting, documentation, and data analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Perform troubleshooting, repair, overhaul, and preventive maintenance on electrical and electro‑mechanical test systems.
  • Execute advanced fabrication, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance activities across a wide array of electrical and electromechanical equipment.
  • Perform detailed diagnostics using oscilloscopes, multimeters, function generators/specialized electronic test instruments, and other advanced test hardware; isolate faults down to the component level using schematics and technical prints.
  • Drive component-level corrective actions, including identifying required replacement parts, sourcing or ordering components, and validating corrective work through functional testing.
  • Develop and refine maintenance procedures, repair instructions, and troubleshooting workflows that improve equipment uptime and repeatability.
  • Learn and operate all assigned test machines; perform maintenance and repair of pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, electromechanical, and electrical subsystems to ensure test station availability.
  • Efficiently configure and instrument test stations according to engineering or divisional specifications, ensuring test integrity and compliance.

What You Will Do

In this role, you’ll be a go‑to expert supporting critical test equipment and operational systems. Your work will include:

Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this role is 60,000 USD - 114,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.

Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective‑bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective‑bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
