Job summary

IonQ, Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer - Test Infrastructure to join our Release Engineering team in College Park, MD. You will own automated testing for IonQ's quantum-system software and build fast CI pipelines, collaborating across software, hardware, and physics teams.

The role focuses on end-to-end hardware-software integration testing in shared test environments and requires hands-on experience with CI/CD, test automation, and performance characterization of complex systems.

Qualifications

5+ years in test infrastructure, software test automation, CI engineering, or related field.
Experience with hardware-in-the-loop or lab-based testing.
Strong Python or equivalent language with test framework experience.
Experience with CI/CD systems at scale.

Responsibilities

Own end-to-end integration testing of system software and automate test suites.
Extend automated test coverage for operator tooling and workflows.
Design, build, and operate the CI infrastructure to catch integration bugs.
Define and evolve system-level test strategy including performance characterization and electronics-control validation.
Own integration-test triage and reporting: drive failures to root cause and deliver actionable feedback.
Manage the lifecycle of the test system fleet across product lines and maintain configuration records.
Champion testability across component teams and promote test hooks and practices.
