Karman Space & Defense is a leader in rapid design, development, and production of critical space and defense systems. The Engineering Manager- Test leads the test engineering group, directing labor demand, staffing, and career development across multiple concurrent programs.

The role emphasizes resource planning, scheduling, and collaboration with program leads to deliver mission-ready hardware, with a DoD Secret clearance or ability to obtain one.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in test engineering environments.
• 5+ years engineering leadership experience.
• 2+ years in aerospace and/or engineering.
• Experience in resource planning, scheduling, and direct people management.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Consolidate labor demand across programs into a single functional-group view.
• Serve as traffic control for functional resource requests and resolve conflicts.
• Drive proactive hiring by identifying staffing gaps.
• Allocate resources across programs to balance workload and support career growth.
• Track assignments against work orders and identify utilization issues.
• Coordinate logistics for engineering standards and training delivery.
• Maintain qualification ladders and monitor time-to-independence for new hires and transfers.
• Support scoping engineering tasks into clear, staffable work packages.
• Collaborate with program leads to set realistic schedules and effort.
• Identify required skill sets and route contested items to experts.
