Job summary

Karman Space & Defense in Mukilteo, WA, seeks an Engineering Manager - Test to lead a large test engineering group, centralizing labor demand, scheduling, and staffing across multiple programs, while enabling career development.

You will partner with program leads to define scopes, ensure engineering standards, and route sign-offs. A DoD Secret clearance (or ability to obtain) is required. This is a full-time on-site role offering a competitive salary and benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7+ years in test engineering environments.
• B.S. in Engineering.
• 5+ years in engineering leadership, incl. 2+ years in aerospace.
• Experience in resource planning, scheduling and people management.
• Data-driven scheduling across multiple programs.
• Support career growth and development.
• Ability to obtain/maintain DoD Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Consolidate labor demand across programs into a single functional view.
• Coordinate resources and resolve scheduling conflicts.
• Drive proactive hiring by identifying staffing gaps.
• Allocate resources across programs to balance workload and growth.
• Track assignments and utilization against work orders.
• Coordinate standards training and completion tracking.
• Maintain qualification ladders and time-to-independence for new hires.
• Scope engineering tasks into clear, staffable work packages.
• Collaborate with program leads on schedule and effort expectations.
• Identify required skill sets and route complex items to experts.
