Job summary

Echodyne is seeking a SENIOR TEST ENGINEER to focus on Embedded Firmware. Based in the United States, this exempt, full-time role will design, execute, and maintain test strategies for complex radar firmware and SDKs, and collaborate across firmware, product, and software teams to raise overall quality.

You will build automated tests where they add value, perform hardware-in-the-loop testing, and mentor junior engineers while supporting test environments and CI/CD processes.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in software testing, firmware QA, or embedded systems test engineering.
• Strong experience validating feature-level behavior, SDK interactions, and device commands.
• Solid understanding of testing principles for embedded systems.
• Experience with test automation, Python preferred.
• Experience with hardware in environments with firmware flashing and physical devices.

Responsibilities

• Design, execute, and maintain feature-level and end-to-end test scenarios for embedded systems and radar firmware/SDKs.
• Define test strategies, coverage, and acceptance criteria from product requirements.
• Develop and maintain test plans, cases, and reports; manage defects through resolution.
• Perform manual, exploratory, and hardware-in-the-loop testing to identify risks and edge cases.
• Build and maintain automated tests where valuable; contribute to existing frameworks.
• Collaborate with firmware, product, and software teams to improve testability and quality.

Echodyne is seeking a SENIOR TEST ENGINEER to focus on Embedded Firmware.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, execute, and maintain feature-level and end-to-end software test scenarios for complex embedded systems, radar firmware, and SDKs
• Analyze product requirements and architecture to define test strategies, coverage, and acceptance criteria for radar functionality and supported commands
• Develop and maintain test plans, test cases, and test reports; manage defects through resolution
• Perform manual, exploratory, and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing to identify product risks, edge cases, and failure modes
• Build and maintain automated tests where they provide clear value, contributing to existing frameworks
• Collaborate with firmware, product, and software teams to improve testability and overall quality
• Support test environments, automation infrastructure, and test execution across projects and releases
• Mentor junior engineers and promote strong testing practices and a quality-first mindset

REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

• 5+ years of experience in software testing, firmware QA, or embedded systems test engineering roles
• Strong experience validating feature-level behavior, supported device commands, and SDK interactions
• Solid understanding of software testing principles, methodologies, and test design techniques for embedded systems
• Experience with test automation, including writing and maintaining automated tests (Python preferred)
• Experience working in environments with hardware and software dependencies, including flashing firmware and interacting directly with physical devices
• Practical knowledge of Linux environments, Git workflows, and CI/CD concepts as applied to embedded systems
• Understanding of software/firmware development practices, hardware debugging, defect investigation, and root cause analysis

The expected annual salary range for this role is $137,196 — $205,382 USD
