Environmental, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), power, and safety qualification are used to support product development and validation, marketing, sales, and manufacturing initiatives to prove design acceptability and obtain various compliance certifications. In addition, the Senior Test Engineering will also be held accountable for peer reviews, department mentoring, and leading small project groups.Essential FunctionsAdvanced understanding of compliance test standards; conducting and witnessing tests; performing diagnostic procedures; measuring performance; analyzing and evaluating findings; performing forensic analysis of failures; troubleshooting failures; supervising sub-contractors.Attains compliance by isolating and resolving non-compliance issues; recommending product and process changes; initiating engineering change noticesAdvanced understanding and completes compliance reports by collecting and summarizing measurement data and trendsAdvanced assistance for development of test strategies with the Systems teamAdvanced understanding and development of test plansEffective coordination with external laboratories for development of test proceduresAdvanced assistance with engineers and designers through product characterization and testingAdvanced assistance in product design, development, and productionProvides testing input during design and development phaseInspects products and testing processes for flaws and identify areas of improvementBuilds and sets up equipment for testingPrepares and conducts experimentsConducts tests and collects dataCalculates or records results during experimentsAssists in coordinating with external, 3rd party laboratories for quotation and schedulingProvides oversight for internal testing and external, 3rd party testingCoordinates witnesses for observed testingKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesAdvanced knowledge of mechanical or electrical systems requiredProficient with the design and build of wire harnesses and cablesProficient with how cables are routed in a computer-based systemAdvanced knowledge of computer hardware and systems integrationExperience working in a fast-paced environmentAdvanced knowledge of compliance and testing industry standardsAdvanced understanding of commonly practiced concepts related to Electrical or Mechanical Engineering theoryCurrent and past industry standards for military, automotive industry, or industrial environmentsUse of full range instrumentation including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzersOperate large stationary machinery including thermotrons, vibe tables, or EMC antenna arraysMultitask to meet several simultaneous project milestones up to and including completion of several projectsWork both independently and in a team environment with the ability to change priorities as neededBuild, troubleshoot, and debug computer-based systems including network switches, firewalls, rack mounted monitors KVMs, or rack mounted UPSAbility to use various software programs related to engineering theory (Altium Designer, AutoDesk inventor, AutoCAD, LT SPICE)Read and compare technical data sheetsEffectively lead small (1-3 member) teams on well-defined projects with moderate supervision, oversight, and coaching providedIdentify departmental process deficiencies, propose viable solutions, and implement appropriate corrective action(s) with moderate managerial support providedRequired QualificationsMust be a US Person (US Citizen, person granted US Permanent Resident Card or any individual who is granted status as a "protected person”)Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science 5+ years of Engineering experience or related engineering field or at least 10+ years of Mechanical Engineering experience in lieu of a degreeCurrent valid US driver’s license with good driving recordPreferred Qualification s5+ years of electrical or mechanical component building experience5+ years of CAD software related workExtensive knowledge of computer equipment (PC, firewall, switch, data acquisition systems, UPS, server rack equipment, etc.)Extensive knowledge of advanced testing equipment (bode plot generators, oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, hall-effect probes, etc.)1+ year of leadership experienceWorking ConditionsWork is primarily performed in an office environment. Occasional exposure to manufacturing floor and testing environments.
