The role owns daily priorities, qualified coverage, employee development, inspection discipline, product-status control, and performance metrics. The supervisor ensures work follows approved requirements and delegated authority and escalates issues requiring technical or managerial decisions.Essential FunctionsLead, coach, and mentor the independent inspection team. Set goals, conduct performance reviews, and address performance or conduct concerns through approved processes.Manage schedules, attendance, paid time off, coverage, and handoffs within delegated authority. Support recruiting, onboarding, staffing, and formal personnel actions with the Quality Manager and P&C.Prioritize inspection work based on approved priorities, product risk, and need dates. Rebalance qualified resources and monitor queue aging, holds, blocked work, and coverage risks.Ensure inspections use approved requirements, qualified personnel, calibrated equipment, and complete, traceable records.Supervise receiving, in-process, component, wire-harness, final, source, customer, and Government inspections.Ensure routine Certificates of Conformance and shipment-release records use approved requirements and templates. Approve records or release conforming product only within documented qualification and delegated authority.Stop inspection or prevent release when requirements or evidence are inadequate. Place and remove Quality holds, initiate nonconformance records, coordinate containment, and escalate disposition or waiver decisions within approved processes.Own onboarding, training, qualification, and cross-training for Quality Control Inspectors. Verify competency and coordinate technical content with Quality Engineers or subject-matter experts.Own inspection performance metrics and reporting, including backlog aging, completion to need date, hold aging, coverage, qualifications, inspection errors, and reinspection. Use the data to identify risks and improvement priorities.Lead approved improvements to standard work, visual controls, work areas, and workload management. Do not change acceptance requirements, inspection methods, or product disposition without technical approval.Coordinate with affected functions to support product flow while preserving independent Quality decisions and acceptance requirements.Support QMS and audit activities affecting the team and ensure compliance with applicable Quality, safety, ESD, FOD, workmanship, and product-handling requirements. Identify deficiencies and implement approved improvements with managerial support.Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesWorking knowledge of quality control, inspection, product-status control, and manufacturing quality principles and processesAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, acceptance criteria, and objective evidenceProficiency using applicable measurement and inspection equipment, including scopes, calipers, micrometers, multimeters, and other test or measurement equipmentAbility to lead, coach, develop, and hold employees accountable while maintaining constructive working relationshipsAbility to prioritize competing work and qualified coverage in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environmentMust be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and escalate risk or uncertainty appropriatelyAbility to collect, analyze, and summarize inspection data and make practical recommendationsFamiliar with Microsoft Office tools including Outlook, Word, Excel, and web applications; ability to learn and use ERP and electronic inspection-record systemsRequired QualificationsMust be a US Person (US Citizen, person granted US Permanent Resident Card or any individual who is granted status as a “protected person”)Bachelor's degree in quality, manufacturing, engineering, business, science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience5-7 years of quality control, quality inspection, quality analyst, quality engineering, or related regulated manufacturing quality experienceDemonstrated ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications and to use applicable measurement and inspection equipmentPreferred QualificationsFormal supervisory or people-leadership experience5-10 years of quality experience within aerospace, defense, electronics, or a related regulated industryFamiliarity with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), calibration controls, ERP systems, and electronic inspection recordsFamiliarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, AS9102, statistical process control (SPC), IPC workmanship standards, ESD, and FOD requirementsRoot cause, problem-solving, corrective-action, or internal-audit experienceQuality and/or continuous improvement certifications (e.g., CQE, CQA, Lean, Six Sigma, etc.)Working ConditionsWork is performed in office, inspection, receiving, manufacturing floor, shipping, and testing environments. The position requires regular standing and walking and may require standing for extended periods during inspection or product-support activities. May require lifting up to 50 lbs and occasional travel.
