Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a Data DevSecOps Engineer III to lead the design and deployment of secure, high-throughput telemetry data pipelines for rocket engine programs. You will own streaming architectures and observability, drive DevSecOps practices, and mentor engineers across cross-functional teams in Seattle, WA.

Qualifications

• BS degree or higher in a relevant field.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience developing and testing software or data systems.
• Experience as a DevOps/DevSecOps engineer, data engineer, or similar role with ownership of production systems.
• Experience designing, implementing, and scaling data pipelines for high-volume streaming and batch data.
• Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
• Experience with Kafka or similar event-driven/streaming platforms and topic design.
• Experience with Elastic Stack or similar search/indexing technologies at scale.
• Experience with Linux, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible, Pulumi, CloudFormation).
• Experience with TypeScript or Python and at least one more language.
• Experience with Agile methodologies.
• Knowledge of databases and SQL/NoSQL; data modeling.
• Experience building dashboards and data visualizations (Grafana, Kibana).
• Experience with AWS services (S3, MSK, OpenSearch, EC2, IAM, Lambda).
• Knowledge of data security best practices and secure software delivery.
• Experience leading technical reviews and mentoring engineers.
• Ability to learn fast and deliver tasks with limited direction.
• Ability to present technical concepts to peers and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy secure, high-throughput data pipelines for large-scale engine telemetry streams.
• Contribute to Engines DevSecOps and data ingest roadmap; translate requirements into phased plans.
• Design streaming architectures using Kafka, Kinesis, or Pulsar for real-time telemetry ingestion.
• Own design, deployment, and tuning of search and observability using Elastic Stack for time-series data.
• Establish DevSecOps practices across the data platform, including CI/CD, IaC, and monitoring.
• Model data storage for multi-resolution time-series and build dashboards (Grafana, Kibana).
• Develop AI/ML and LLM-based anomaly detection from prototype to production.
• Lead root cause analysis and drive corrective actions for pipeline failures.
• Define performance and cost optimization across the data platform.
• Author technical artifacts and communicate risks and mitigations to leadership.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance across teams.
• Collaborate with engine test, design, analysis, and IT/security to deliver telemetry solutions.
