Placements24 is seeking a Telecom Network Planning Engineer to join the strategic planning team in Upington, Northern Cape. You will forecast network needs, design expansion strategies, and ensure capacity to support growing demand across the Northern Cape region.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and at least 6 years of telecom network planning experience, with strong knowledge of mobile, fixed-line, and fiber architectures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in telecommunications network planning, design, or engineering.
• Strong knowledge of network architectures (mobile, fixed-line, fiber).
• Experience with network capacity planning, traffic analysis, and forecasting methodologies.
• Proficiency with network planning and simulation tools is a strong asset.
• Understanding of relevant telecommunications standards and protocols.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and quantitative skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze current network capacity and forecast future requirements based on traffic growth and service demands.
• Develop long-term network plans, including capacity expansion, technology upgrades, and new service deployments.
• Design network architectures for optimal performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Evaluate and recommend new telecommunications technologies and equipment.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure successful implementation of network plans.
• Develop and maintain network planning documentation, including reports, diagrams, and justifications for investment.
• Perform cost-benefit analysis for proposed network upgrades and expansions.
• Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in network planning.
• Identify potential network bottlenecks and propose solutions to enhance performance.
