Placements24 is seeking a Senior Telecom Network Engineer to design, implement, and optimize our client’s cutting-edge telecom networks in South Africa. The role blends on-site Paarl collaboration with remote flexibility, focusing on reliable, scalable IP, optical, and wireless infrastructures.

Ideal candidates bring 5–7 years’ experience, deep routing protocol knowledge, fiber optics expertise, and strong analytical skills to mentor peers and drive capacity planning and security compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field.
• 5–7 years of progressive telecom network engineering experience.
• In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS and other routing protocols.
• Experience with fiber optic networks (DWDM, GPON) and wireless (4G/5G).

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain robust telecommunications networks, including optical, wireless, and IP infrastructure.
• Conduct network performance analysis and implement optimization strategies for high availability and low latency.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues with timely solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless network integration and support.

• Experience with fiber optic networks (DWDM, GPON) and wireless technologies (4G/5G).
• Proficiency in network simulation and analysis tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Experience with network security principles and implementation.
• Project management experience is a plus.
