Job summary

Lear Corporation in Comstock Park, MI, is seeking a Senior Technician - Mechanical to design, install and service equipment for global plants. You will work with the install supervisor and cross-functional teams to integrate ASRS systems, conveyors, pallet elevators, and line equipment.

The role requires reading prints, wiring 24VDC and 480VAC circuits, and traveling up to 80% to support installations worldwide.

SENIOR TECHNICIAN - MECHANICAL

COMSTOCK PARK, MI

NATURE OF WORK:

The Senior Technician reports to the Install Supervisor. Lear designs, builds, and installs equipment for Lear plants globally. Our portfolio includes ASRS systems, automated conveyor, pallet elevators, stackers/destackers, pallet turntables, automatic labelers, shipping trailers, and build line integration. At Lear, we are always looking to incorporate new technologies into our seating plants.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED

• Follows health, safety, environmental regulations, and safety protocols (safety harnesses, fork truck, scissor lift, boom lifts, LOTO)
• Builds mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among all team members
• Follows tasks given by supervision/management
• Unload and move equipment into position, per layout
• Mount electrical devices, install cable tray, run sensor cabling, 24VDC circuits, 480VAC circuits, airlines, and ethernet to the equipment
• Make connections into the MCP
• Work with controls team to debug systems
• Read and analyze prints, layouts, and timelines
• Review drawings and verify site inventory
• Contribute and build to team atmosphere

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

• Must be a team player. Outward Mindset and inclusive team building techniques
• Expert experience with forklifts, rigging, and hand tools
• Knowledgeable of automated equipment wiring (AC/DC, Ethernet)
• Self-driven and willingness to work long hours during installations, if required
• Understanding of facility requirements (i.e. air, ethernet, 110VAC, 480VAC, water)
• Ability to travel globally up to 80% of the time
• Ability to read 2D mechanical and electrical prints

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

• Ability to sit, stand, and kneel for long periods of time.
• Ability to concentrate on a given tasks and not be distracted.
• Ability to frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, reach, twist, grasp, and make repetitive hand movements.
• Ability to lift, carry, and/or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Self-driven and a quick learner
