Walmart is seeking a Senior Technician, Facility Services, HVAC/R to lead installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of commercial HVAC/R systems at our Bradenton, FL locations. You will manage preventive maintenance, refrigerant handling, and coordinate field teams to ensure safe, compliant, and reliable facility operations.

The role requires mentoring peers, documenting work, and participating in on-call rotations to support 24/7 store functionality.

Qualifications

• HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration experience is required.
• EPA refrigerant handling certification is required.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Journeyman status where required.
• Experience with plumbing, electrical or related areas is a plus.
• Strong documentation and on-call readiness.

This role oversees preventive maintenance programs, manages refrigerant handling, and coordinates field teams to optimize equipment performance. The position requires detailed documentation, vendor coordination, and participation in on-call rotations to support critical business needs. The Senior Technician also mentors team members, supports process improvements, and contributes to special projects, driving operational excellence and reliability across facility services.

What you’ll do

• Oversee installation, commissioning, and maintenance of HVAC/R systems, including ductwork, control panels, and refrigeration units.
• Lead diagnostics and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant issues across commercial and industrial equipment.
• Implement and monitor preventive maintenance programs to optimize equipment performance and reduce downtime.
• Manage refrigerant handling, ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, and HVAC/R codes.
• Coordinate and mentor field teams, providing hands‑on training and evaluating skill development.
• Maintain parts inventory, vendor relationships, and service call coordination to meet business priorities.
• Participate in on‑call rotation to support critical operational needs outside regular hours.

What you’ll bring

• Extensive experience in installation, commissioning, and maintenance of HVAC/R systems, including commercial and industrial refrigeration units.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant‑related issues.
• Proven ability to lead and mentor field teams, providing hands‑on training and development.
• Knowledge of OSHA standards, EPA refrigerant handling protocols, and compliance with federal, state, and local HVAC/R codes.

The hourly wage range for this position is $35.00 - $70.00. The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.

Minimum Qualifications

• Option 1: 3 years’ experience in HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration.
• Option 2: 6 years’ experience in HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration and Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.
• Hold and maintain Type I and Type II or Universal Environmental Protection Agency certification for refrigerant handling.
• Where required, HVAC‑R/ Mechanical Journeyman.
• 1 year’s experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area or 2 years’ Walmart store experience.
• Valid state‑issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report.
• Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years.
• Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years.
• No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
• No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.

Preferred Qualifications

• Completion of a 2-year technical/vocational HVAC/R program or 2-year associate’s of applied science A/C and refrigeration.
• Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Prior work experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Prior work experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
• Prior work experience with Glycol and C02 systems.
