Job description

Position: Senior Technician
Location: Atlanta, GA 30354 (Onsite)
Expected Duration of Project: 12+ Months (Contract to hire)

Position Overview:
Porsche Classic Factory Restoration restores classic Porsche models from the 356 through the 987 Boxster/Cayman and 911 type 997, while also supporting Classic product development and Sonderwunsch Factory programs. The Sr. Technician role will conduct restoration, preservation, maintenance, and repair services consistent with Porsche factory standards for Porsche Classic Vehicles. They will also support Sonderwunsch Factory Re-Commission projects concentrating on personalization. They will assist in the preparation of customer estimates and project plans, participate in end-of-project Quality reviews, and prepare all completed project vehicles for customer delivery. Finally, they will contribute to the development and implementation of the Classic strategy in concert with, but not limited to, the Aftersales and Vehicle Operations. The Sr. Technician will typically specialize in a concentrated vehicle model range, such as 9x6/9x7 or supercars, yet be called on to support all models.

Roles & Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities:
  1. Recommend and perform restoration on, but not limited to, engines, transmissions, bodywork, electrical, and suspension components consistent with Porsche factory standards.
  2. Lead Sonder Wunsch Factory Re-Commission projects in alignment with our internal body, paint, and upholstery shops.
  3. Perform maintenance services such as major & minor services and repairs as well as tire & wheel changes and additional services as necessary consistent with Porsche standards.
  4. Review work orders and discuss work with supervisors.
  5. Interact as project lead with vehicle-owning customers.
  6. Perform final quality reviews including submission of inspection documents.
  7. Ability to explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals which may include employees and customers.
  8. Read test reports, accompanying maps, maintenance, and repair orders; find parts and available materials, synchronize workflow, and coordinate vehicle cycle and put together parts and materials, visually check for identity and errors.
  9. Define and determine errors and disorders with the use of customary diagnostic tools or PIWIS diagnostic tools: Set the list of repairs and create performance charts, diagnostics, and error reports.
  10. Create and support cost estimates for repairs including labor time and parts.
  11. Plan work procedures, using charts, technical manuals, and check the quality parameters and completeness of the work carried out based on the content of procedures.
  12. Examine vehicles to determine the extent of damage or malfunctions.
  13. Follow checklists to ensure all important parts are examined, including belts, hoses, steering systems, spark plugs, brake and fuel systems, wheel bearings, and other potentially troublesome areas.
  14. Monitor and work closely with the full Classic Team to achieve the Porsche Classic and Factory Restoration qualitative and quantitative targets (KPIs). Define plans to improve them if necessary.
  15. Perform care and cleaning work according to the plan or as needed of parts, vehicle, or workspace.
  16. Perform test drives, correct deficiencies, and perform final inspection of vehicles or the assembly; implement safety procedures.
  17. Direct, teach, and guide the work of junior or in-training technicians.
  18. Maintain necessary training to meet Porsche Classic Standards.

Qualifications
Education:
  1. Automotive technical degree preferred.
  2. Porsche Gold Master Technician Certification preferred.
  3. Porsche Classic Technician Certification preferred.

Experience:
  1. 15 years Porsche Technician working experience.
  2. 5 years vehicle restoration experience preferred.

Skills:
  1. PET2.
  2. Dealer Management System experience, this company preferred.
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  4. Ability to effectively manage multiple projects.
  5. Fluency in English (oral/written).
  6. Highly organized, target-oriented mindset, works well without close supervision.
  7. Ability to set and meet challenging deadlines.
  8. Excellent interpersonal skills.
  9. High possession of Porsche passion.
  10. German language a plus.
  11. Excellent knowledge of Classic range of Porsche vehicles.
  12. Excellent knowledge of Porsche air-cooled and water-cooled engines.
  13. Excellent ability mounting and balancing tires.
  14. Excellent ability in vehicle alignment with Hunter alignment machines.
  15. Proficient in Porsche special tools, service equipment, and PIWIS Diagnostic systems.
  16. Proficient in computer skills.

• Ability to work on engines on engine stand.
• Ability to work on cars on hoist lift or on ground.
• Ability to drive a manual stick shift transmission.
