Job Description Summary

Position Overview

The Senior Wind Hub Technician position requires local travel within the hub. The Senior Wind Hub Technician is a critical and active role to maintain optimal function and output at the wind site by working daily on turbine operations, safety, quality control, and warranty repairs. The Senior Wind Hub Technician partners and communicates with the Site Lead and Manager to execute contract requirements and timelines, ensuring alignment with GE Vernova standards.

Essential Responsibilities
  1. Work with site/hub leadership to execute contractual obligations per customer requirements and activities set forth daily, including electrical and mechanical equipment used in the GE wind turbine generator.
  2. Apply extensive understanding of variable pitch & speed turbines and converter parts.
  3. Read, understand, and explain schematics, drawings, manuals, procedures, and regulations.
  4. Adhere to all Environmental Health and Safety processes and regulations and all applicable compliance requirements.
  5. Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on turbines.
  6. Assist in all areas of site operations as directed by the manager, with minimal supervision, observing all safety requirements.
  7. Perform diagnostic analysis and generate plans for timely resolution.
  8. Document all work using computer-based service reporting procedures.
  9. Coordinate with GE Vernova’s remote operations center when necessary.
  10. Mentor peers and support all site operations as directed by the manager.
Qualifications/Requirements
  1. High School Diploma or GED.
  2. Minimum of 4 years of wind troubleshooting experience and 1 year in EHS, SQC, or Lead roles, OR
  3. Minimum of 5 years of wind troubleshooting experience.
Eligibility Requirements
  1. Basic computer skills.
  2. Ability to pass Technical Knowledge Assessment.
  3. Valid driver’s license.
  4. Willingness to travel up to 100% of the time.
  5. Ability to handle repetitive weight of 50 lbs. and climb towers up to 300 feet daily.
  6. Meet manufacturer weight limits, not exceeding 300 lbs including gear.
  7. Willingness to work in various environments, including industrial and power facilities.
  8. Ability to prioritize work according to contract obligations.
  9. Work independently with initiative and flexibility for rotating shifts and on-call duties.
  10. Occasional overnight stays may be required.
Desired Characteristics
  1. Associate or bachelor’s degree in a Technical, Electrical, or Electronics field.
  2. Technical certification in Wind Energy or Electrical/Electronic field.
  3. Ability to work effectively with diverse personnel.
  4. Wind turbine experience.
  5. Electrical, mechanical, hydraulic experience.
  6. Experience with hydraulic power tools and heavy equipment, including cranes and rigging.
