Job summary

Arlo Solutions LLC seeks a Technical Writer to support NOAA’s Research Security Program by developing, editing, and maintaining compliant documentation aligned with NSPM-33, NIST, and related federal guidelines. This role requires translating complex cyber and compliance details into clear materials for diverse audiences.

The position is Hybrid in Silver Spring, MD with an active Top Secret/SCI clearance required before start.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of technical writing experience in federal, research, or cybersecurity programs.
• Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, or related field.
• Strong writing, editing, and formatting skills; ability to simplify complex material.
• Proficiency in MS Office, Google Workspace, and Smartsheets.
• Understanding of federal IT/security standards (NIST SP 800, FISMA, RMF).

Responsibilities

• Draft, edit, and format policies, procedures, and SOPs.
• Translate technical and security requirements into clear, user-friendly documents.
• Prepare assessment reports, training materials, compliance reports, risk registers, and incident response docs.
• Create templates and disclosure forms per NSPM-33 requirements.
• Develop user-friendly reference guides and training aids for federal employees, contractors, researchers.
• Ensure documents adhere to Section 508 accessibility standards and NOAA guidelines.
• Collaborate with program managers, analysts, cybersecurity specialists, and trainers to convert technical input into polished docs.
• Maintain version control and manage document updates during reviews.
• Support creation of PowerPoint presentations and process diagrams for stakeholders.
