Job summary

Canvas Inc. seeks a technical writer to prepare, review, and edit technical documents, reports, manuals, and presentations to ensure clarity, accuracy, and compliance with standards and regulations.

You will collaborate with engineers, test personnel, and subject matter experts to gather information and translate it into clear documentation; maintain version control and templates; track workflows; and support SOPs, test plans, and data packages while ensuring security, classification, and audit

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree and 3-10 years of relevant experience, OR 6 years of relevant experience, OR Associate's degree plus 4 years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated experience in technical writing, editing, or documentation support in a military, aerospace, or engineering environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and document management systems.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills.
• Active Secret clearance (or ability to obtain).
• US Citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and edit technical documents, reports, manuals, and presentations to ensure clarity, accuracy, and compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
• Collaborate with engineers, test personnel, and subject matter experts to gather technical information and translate it into clear documentation.
• Maintain document version control, formatting consistency, and compliance with templates and style guides.
• Track and manage document workflows, including routing for review, approval, and distribution.
• Support the development and maintenance of SOPs, test plans, data packages, and technical correspondence.
• Ensure all documentation meets security, classification, and distribution requirements.
• Provide support for briefing materials, meeting minutes, and technical presentations.
• Assist with management of digital and physical document repositories for rapid retrieval and audit readiness.
