Travelers seeks a Senior Technical Specialist, General Liability, to manage complex injury and property damage claims from notice to resolution. You will evaluate coverage, liability, and damages, establish reserves, and coordinate with counsel for litigation management.

You will mentor claims professionals, navigate high-stakes negotiations, and leverage technology, including AI, to improve outcomes while maintaining service quality and compliance.

Compensation Overview

The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

Salary Range

$94,400.00 - $155,800.00

What Is the Opportunity?

As a Senior Technical Specialist, General Liability, you will be responsible for managing and investigating complex and higher-severity injury and/or property damage claims including customer contact, determining coverage, evaluating liability, assessing damages, establishing timely reserves, and issue timely and accurate payments within appropriate authority and oversight. In this senior technical role, you will leverage advanced expertise in claims management, investigative techniques, coverage evaluation, and settlement negotiation to ensure timely and fair resolution. You will foster positive, professional relationships with customers and key stakeholders on matters involving significant litigation and extended resolution timelines. You will actively mentor and coach Claim Professionals, including providing higher-severity claims mentoring to enhance higher-level skill sets.

What Will You Do?

• Independently manage an active caseload of injury and/or property damage claims and litigation from first notice of loss through resolution within level of authority. Typically, handles personal and/or business insurance high complexity liability claims with coverage disputes and contractual indemnity issues.
• Gather and thoroughly investigate information by contacting all relevant parties to determine coverage, evaluate liability exposure, assess bodily injury and/or property damage which may include personal and advertising injury claims, and establish appropriate reserves in accordance with policy terms and management guidance.
• Provide timely and professional communication to customers, representatives, opposing counsel, third-party vendors, and internal stakeholders.
• Develop and execute advanced resolution strategies and coordinate internal and external resources to conduct comprehensive claim investigations and evaluations.
• Partner with Counsel to develop, direct, and execute litigation management strategies.
• Manage multi‑party negotiations with key stakeholders to achieve optimal claim resolutions within delegated authority limits.
• Maintain accurate records of claim activity in claim management systems.
• Identify areas in which we can improve or enhance current best practices and offer creative solutions.
• Adapt to new technology implementations, system upgrades, and digital tool rollouts, particularly in the areas of AI while maintaining productivity and service quality.
• Acquire and maintain relevant Insurance License(s) to comply with state and Travelers' requirements within three months of starting the job.
• May require travel, including overnight stays, to attend mediations, trials, arbitration, etc.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
