Job summary

Jobtailor seeks an experienced claims professional to handle complex toxic tort, latent injury, environmental, and high-exposure claims in the United States. The role involves liability determination, budgeting, and coordinating with counsel for efficient settlements.

The candidate will research legacy policies, analyze coverage, and present recommendations to management, while maintaining robust claim files and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 5+ years of experience in toxic tort, latent injury, environmental claim and coverage determination.
• 3 years of experience in environmental claim and coverage determination or handling severe, highly complex liability claims and litigation, or comparable claim litigation or legal experience, OR 3 years of bodily injury or property damage claim handling experience or comparable claim litigation or legal experience plus 1 year of SRG experience.
• Insurance license(s) may be required; generally must be obtained within three months of starting the job and maintained with ongoing education credits.
• Knowledge of regulatory and claim environments.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates expertise in managing complex toxic tort and environmental claims, with a strong focus on liability determination, financial analysis, and strategic resolution planning.
• Proven ability to maintain relationships and coordinate communications while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
• Handle complex toxic tort, latent injury, environmental claims with significant financial exposures and advise management on strategy.
• Develop and execute strategic file management plans, including counsel selection, litigation and resolution strategies, expense management, expert engagement, and settlement terms.
• Attend meetings with counsel, settlement conferences, mediations, and trials.
• Manage assigned accounts, maintain relationships, and coordinate communications and reporting.
• Estimate financial exposures, develop budgets and financial analyses, and maintain defense and indemnity estimates.
• Maintain organized claim files, claim systems, databases, data accuracy, and file inventory.
• Provide training, mentoring, coaching, consulting, and interviewing support.
• Lead or represent the unit/office on special projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Handle complex toxic tort, latent injury, sexual misconduct, environmental, and excess claims with significant financial exposures
• Manage challenging large-exposure claims involving complex liability and coverage issues
• Develop strategies to resolve claims efficiently and effectively while meeting protocols and delivering customer service
• Research legacy policies and analyze coverage; prepare recommendations and present them to management
• Investigate claim facts, determine liability, evaluate damages, and recommend courses of action
• Develop and execute strategic file management plans, including counsel selection, litigation and resolution strategies, expense management, expert engagement, and settlement terms
