Our Purpose

Global Technical Sourcing is the primary integration point linking Global Supply Management (GSM) with Technology and New Product Development (NPD) Project Teams, aligning Medtronic Product and Supplier Technology Roadmaps. The purpose of GTS is to accelerate innovation through suppliers to create a sustainable competitive advantage.

The role supports the Coronary & Renal Denervation therapies, key components of Medtronic's interventional cardiology portfolio. We aim to address unmet needs in complex PCI and lead in renal denervation therapy to combat hypertension.

Role Overview

The Technical Sourcing Specialist engages in processes to reduce supply risk and promote capable technologies in NPD, ensuring predictable supply and competitiveness through product launch. They execute all TS project deliverables in the Product Development Process (PDP).

A Day in The Life Of:

As the Senior Technical Sourcing Specialist, you will be the primary contact for sourcing in NPD project teams, aligning product and supplier technology roadmaps. Your role involves strategic engagement with NPD, Global Supply Management, Operations, and Suppliers.

You will:

  • Lead supplier identification, evaluation, selection, development, qualification, and ramp-up in line with strategies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage supplier projects for new products.
  • Manage supply risk, quality, cost, and response times for procured components in both new and legacy products.
  • Oversee supplier aspects of projects, acting as liaison between operations and project teams.
  • Develop mechanisms to monitor project progress and resolve issues related to schedule, budget, quality, and functionality.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to ensure supplier and component alignment with business needs.
  • Support launch readiness and transfer to operations, including component sourcing responsibilities post-qualification.
  • Identify new sources where category strategies are not yet established.
  • Partner with suppliers to ensure components are reliable, manufacturable, and cost-effective, defining and communicating design requirements.
  • Support departmental goals and initiatives.
Key Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree (Level 8)
  • At least 4 years of relevant experience
  • Technical knowledge in medical device technology
  • Experience in material or component replacement efforts
  • Program management in medical device development
  • Supplier management and negotiation skills
  • Proficient in supply chain management

Benefits and Compensation

Medtronic offers a competitive salary and flexible benefits package. Salary ranges for U.S. locations are $88,000 to $132,000, with eligibility for incentives and additional benefits detailed in the full description.
