Job summary

Google's XR team is seeking a Senior Technical Solutions Consultant to bridge hardware prototyping, robotics and software. You will design and build the physical test infrastructure - fixtures, multi-axis alignment rigs, and automated stages - that lets engineering teams verify sensor performance on XR hardware.

You will also build the software that drives it: full-stack tools that control robotic testing and validation setup, capture data, and turn raw measurements into actionable results,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience troubleshooting technical issues for internal and external partners.
  • 5 years of experience in software and hardware test automation, camera/optical systems validation, or related roles, including experience in mechanical fixture design and prototyping (e.g., 3D printing).
  • Experience in system design or reading code (e.g., Python) for optical instrumentation, including cameras, actuators, motorized stages, and lasers/LEDs.
  • Experience producing technical design and build documents (e.g., test and validation procedures to support hardware design workflow).
  • Experience with camera calibration, computer vision, or optical testing and validation.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build the physical test infrastructure for XR hardware, including fixtures and multi-axis alignment rigs.
  • Develop full-stack software and automated calibration pipelines for camera intrinsics, extrinsics, and display alignment using Python and computer vision.
  • Perform optical alignment and validation using reference targets, camera-based self-alignment, and automated simulation scripts prior to physical builds.
  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools to build scalable automation software and document reusable test frameworks across future hardware programs.
  • Partner cross-functionally with optics, mechanical, firmware, and manufacturing teams to transition lab-validated methods into scalable, production-ready infrastructure.

  • Design custom optomechanical test fixtures and multi-axis motion control setups using 3D prototyping and rigorous mechanical alignment tolerances to validate AR/VR hardware.
