Job summary

Google San Jose, CA, USA is seeking a Software Engineer, AI and Development Infra, Device, XR to empower engineering teams with scalable tools and infrastructure for AI-enabled development. You will design and build systems that improve the velocity, quality, and reliability of software at scale.

The XR DevX Infra team focuses on developer experience, tooling, and automation to accelerate AI testing and integration across Android XR platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience programming in Python, Java, Go, or C++.
• 5 years of experience with software design and architecture.
• 3 years of experience in developing virtual devices, developer tools, automation frameworks, testing infrastructure, or CI/CD systems.
• Experience applying AI/ML techniques to software engineering problems.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, deploy, maintain, enhance and stay abreast of latest complex software solutions that improve the developer workflow, code quality, and release velocity.
• Lead the technical design and implementation of projects, making key architectural and technical decisions to improve virtual device's fidelity, velocity and stability to scale AI testing workflow on virtual devices.
• Develop and integrate AI-powered features into developer tools to assist with code generation, code review, test generation, bug detection/triaging, and more, increasingly leveraging AI/ML.
• Collaborate closely with various engineering teams to understand their needs, gather requirements, and drive the adoption of new tools and best practices. Contribute to and lead design reviews, code reviews, and discussions on system architecture.
• Define and track metrics to measure the impact of tools and process improvements on developer productivity and system health.

The XR DevX Infra team is developing systems, tools and processes to improve developer experience and velocity for Android XR. We support developers, partners and stakeholders to deliver on a regular cadence, with maximum velocity and trust.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $207000 - $300000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits
