Job summary

Blue Origin LLC in Washington, Seattle, seeks a Senior Engineering Operations Lead to serve as the backbone of the MK2 Crew Systems product team. You will own the Rhythm of Business, drive the integrated schedule, and coordinate budget, scope, and procurement with NASA partners.

In this role you will lead DAC planning, manage the IMS, and guide cross-functional teams through major reviews, ensuring safe, timely, and cost-effective crew-facing hardware delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Operations or related field.
  • 8+ years in program operations, engineering operations, or technical project management in aerospace or related field.
  • Experience owning an Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), baselining and cross-program schedule integration.
  • Demonstrated Jira experience and ability to manage cross-functional processes with minimal direction.
  • Experience leading or co-leading formal engineering reviews and managing documentation and artifacts.

  • Establish and run the Crew Systems Rhythm of Business, with daily reporting and Weekly Business Review updates.
  • Track technical progress using Jira, Confluence, and dashboard tools.
  • Own and manage the IMS schedule baselines and cross-functional linkages, including critical path work.

This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin’s mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. Blue Origin is seeking a Senior Engineering Operations Lead to serve as the operational backbone of the MK2 Crew Systems product team. This role owns the product team's Rhythm of Business, drives the integrated schedule and major engineering reviews, integrates budget and scope, coordinates procurement and supplier execution, and represents Crew Systems in high-visibility program venues including working directly with NASA customers and partners. It demands someone who thrives amid shifting priorities and expanding scope, takes ownership of complex cross-functional processes, and enables the team to succeed. Responsibilities
  • Establish and run the Crew Systems Rhythm of Business, including daily reporting and Weekly Business Review (WBR) updates.
  • Technical progress tracking using Jira, Confluence, and dashboard tools.
  • Reporting progress and blockers at appropriate levels.
  • Adapting content and expectations to program needs.
  • Own and drive the Crew Systems Integrated Master Schedule (IMS): lead re-baseline efforts with cross-functional stakeholders, maintain a green schedule baseline ahead of major milestones, build and manage schedule linkages, and understand critical path and variance drivers and work to reconcile.
  • Own product team budget tracking, hold Responsible Engineers and suppliers accountable for cost management, and support Estimate at Completion (EAC) inputs in coordination with Finance.
  • Coordinate efforts across the product team comprised of engineering, program planning & control, supply chain, manufacturing/ production engineering, facilities, production, tooling, quality, test, and NASA partners.
  • Own quarterly Design Analysis Cycle (DAC) planning: provide DAC review-package inputs, coordinate cross- IPT integration, and support execution to meet program DAC completion goals.
  • Lead planning and expectation-setting for major reviews, including authoring review expectations memos and coordinating readiness prep with clear ownership across the team.
  • Support and train Responsible Engineers in management of schedule, budget, and DAC and sprint-level execution.
Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years in program operations, engineering operations, or technical project management in an aerospace environment or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience owning an Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), including baselining and cross-program schedule integration.
  • Demonstrated Jira experience.
  • Proven ability to own and improve complex, cross-functional processes with minimal direction.
  • Experience leading or co-leading formal engineering reviews and managing associated documentation and artifacts.
  • Experience with program budget/EAC tracking and WBS/schedule integration.
  • Strong stakeholder-management and communication skills.
  • Ability to earn trust and maintain positive and professional relationships.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting human spaceflight or lunar programs.
  • Experience managing supplier/subcontractor relationships and Statements of Work, including procurement of long-lead items and supplier transitions.
  • Familiarity with MRP systems and Supply Chain coordination.
  • Familiarity with DRD management and artifact tracking in a systems-engineering context.
  • Formal project management training or certification such as PMP.
  • Experience with budget and Cost Account Management such as EVM or similar principles.
  • Experience onboarding and mentoring teammates in a rapidly scaling organization.

Base Pay Range for: CO applicants is $133,500.00 - $186,898.95 WA applicants is $145,188.00 - $203,263.20. Other site ranges may differ.
