The Senior Technical Project Manager serves as the remote "chief engineer" for large-scale industrial investment and equipment deployment projects across North American manufacturing facilities. This role is dedicated to developing, proposing, installing, and commissioning capital equipment initiatives. Operating with an entrepreneurial mindset in a lean environment, the Manager coordinates cross-functional stakeholders and external suppliers to deliver complex equipment integrations, line relocations, and facility modifications that drive cost savings and corporate growth.
The Manager takes complete ownership of technical specifications, project engineering, and site execution. This involves creating mechanical specifications and equipment layouts using CAD software to align plant-level and corporate stakeholders across R&D, safety, production, and finance. The position oversees physical site preparation, machinery installation, and final equipment commissioning on-site, which requires managing general contractors, mechanical/electrical trades, and attending factory acceptance tests at facilities. To ensure visible progress, the Manager utilizes project management tools like Gantt charts, Work Breakdown Structures, and risk registers while strictly auditing equipment designs against ANSI B11 safety standards, electrical codes, and civil design stamping requirements. Travel up to 50% is required to support critical project lifecycle phases.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, with a strong preference for Mechanical Engineering. The role requires at least ten years of experience as a lead engineer or project manager specifying, procuring, and commissioning machinery on behalf of a facility or an OEM, with a proven track record managing capital projects valued at $1 million or greater. Additionally, a minimum of five years of experience as a mechanical design or tooling engineer is required. The ideal profile features an industrial background in polymer extrusion, paper making, roll-to-roll web handling, lamination, or packaging automation. Applicants should possess a deep understanding of plant utilities, custom PLC programming, and process measurement systems.
The target base salary for this position is $140,000 to $160,000. The position includes a target bonus tied to individual and organizational performance metrics. A comprehensive corporate benefits package is available on day one, featuring medical, dental, and vision coverage, 12 weeks of fully paid parental leave, and an immediately vested 401(k) program with a 6% company match.
