Job summary

Hellbender Inc. in Pittsburgh is seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager to lead cross-functional programs that bring hardware and software products from concept to production launch.

You will coordinate engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and program stakeholders to ensure schedules, budgets, and specifications are met. The role requires 10–15 years in technical program management in hardware or technology manufacturing, with strong method knowledge

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Program/Project Management, or related technical field.
• 10-15 years of experience managing technical or engineering programs, preferably hardware or technology manufacturing.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent programs and cross-functional teams without direct authority.
• Strong working knowledge of program/project management methodologies and tools (e.g., Agile, Stage-Gate, waterfall; Jira, MS Project, Smartsheet).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to senior leadership.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, and drive execution of complex cross-functional technical programs from requirements through design, prototyping, testing, and production release.
• Serve as primary liaison between engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and program stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain integrated program schedules, risk registers, and dependency maps; resolve schedule conflicts.
• Facilitate program reviews, design reviews, and milestone gate meetings; present status updates to leadership.
• Coordinate with Purchasing and Supply Chain to manage long-lead components, vendor deliverables, and budgets.
• Partner with Quality to ensure programs meet engineering, safety, and regulatory requirements including ITAR and customer specs.
• Identify and mitigate program risks; elevate issues as needed.
• Support new product introduction (NPI) activities for transitions to production.
• Maintain program documentation and post-program lessons-learned reviews.
• Ensure export control compliance for programs involving controlled technical data.
• Other duties as assigned

Job Summary

The Senior Technical Program Manager (STPM) leads cross-functional programs that bring Hellbender's hardware and software products from concept through production launch. This role coordinates engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and program stakeholders to ensure technical programs are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to specification. The STPM serves as the central point of accountability for program timelines, risk management, and cross-team communication in a multi-shift technology manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, and drive execution of complex, cross-functional technical programs from requirements definition through design, prototyping, testing, and production release
• Serve as the primary liaison between engineering, manufacturing/production, quality assurance, supply chain, and program stakeholders, ensuring alignment on scope, schedule, and deliverables
• Develop and maintain integrated program schedules, risk registers, and dependency maps; proactively identify and resolve schedule conflicts and resource constraints
• Facilitate program reviews, design reviews, and milestone gate meetings; prepare and present status updates to engineering leadership and executive stakeholders
• Coordinate with Purchasing and Supply Chain to manage long-lead components, vendor deliverables, and program budgets, including tracking program-level costs against forecast
• Partner with Quality to ensure programs meet applicable engineering, safety, and regulatory requirements, including any customer- or contract-specific technical specifications
• Identify, document, and mitigate program risks, including technical risks, resource constraints, and supplier or schedule dependencies; elevate issues appropriately
• Support new product introduction (NPI) activities, coordinating transition of programs from engineering development into multi-shift production
• Maintain program documentation, including requirements traceability, change logs, and post-program lessons-learned reviews
• Coordinate with Compliance/Facility Security to ensure program activities, documentation, and access controls comply with applicable export control (ITAR) and government contracting requirements for programs involving controlled technical data
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Program/Project Management, or a related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 10 - 15 years of experience managing technical or engineering programs, preferably in a hardware, electronics, or technology manufacturing environment
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent programs and cross-functional teams without direct authority
• Strong working knowledge of program/project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Stage-Gate, waterfall) and tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to senior leadership
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize technical and schedule information for varied audiences
