Job description

Our users are building the decentralized future

The Nomic Foundation is a non-profit advancing the Ethereum ecosystem. We build runtimes, compilers, build systems, and deployment solutions that are used by tens of thousands of users. Our focus is on empowering developers to decentralize the world. You can help.

Your impact
Deep technical challenges

We tackle deep developer infrastructure projects that are usually only available in larger organizations. We build runtimes and compilers used by tens of thousands of users.

Your contributions will directly impact an ecosystem that is shaping the future of finance, data, and ownership. You won’t be working on optimizing a revenue stream to increase shareholder profits; you’ll create value for the Ethereum community and developer ecosystem.

Lean and robust

We run robust engineering practices and lightweight processes that provide us with structure and fast decision-making. Your time will be spent on technical challenges, coding, and launching features.

Our values
Crypto & Ethereum belief
Social Impact

We care about creating value for the world and Ethereum’s community in a meaningful way.

We consider a smooth building experience essential for ecosystem growth, and we take pride and pleasure in making software easier to build.

Time is Precious

We are respectful of people's time, including that of our users, the Ethereum community, external contributors, and our own team members and organization. Aiming for fast and efficient is our default.

High Standards

We aim to take the hard path without compromising quality or losing our sense of pragmatism.

Level Up

We always try to improve at all levels: individually, in our projects, and as a team. Beginner's mindset.

When we see room for improvement, we point it out and seek iteration, even if it's outside our direct responsibilities or areas of expertise.

Autonomy

To create space for deep focus, schedule flexibility, and effective async remote collaboration, we strive for autonomy in how we approach work and collaboration.

Kindness

We value and only hire people who embody respect, compassion, empathy, and kindness.

Culture
We are an impact-driven remote team of 16 individuals coming from different walks of life. We look for alignment on mission and values as key aspects when we hire.

Our team is fully remote, and we hire within UTC+2 to UTC-4 time zones. We work asynchronously and autonomously, relying on trust and great communication. This allows everyone to create a working schedule that integrates well with other important aspects of their lives. Hiring across many countries allows us to naturally integrate diverse perspectives.

Team Retreats

While we love remote, time together in person is really important. Twice a year, we set aside about a week for our in-person retreats. We've had great times in places like Malaga, Patagonia, and Tuscany. During these trips we focus on work that’s well-suited for being in person, but we also have fun! Expect some hiking, yoga, kayaking, cooking, and even wine tasting. These retreats help us bond, share experiences, and build deeper relationships with one another.

Senior Technical Product Manager, Hardhat & EDR
Who we are

The Nomic Foundation is a non-profit advancing the Ethereum ecosystem. We build open-source runtimes, compilers, build systems, and deployment solutions that are used by tens of thousands of developers. We emphasize robust engineering and lean processes, allowing for quick decision-making and distraction-free software development. You have the opportunity to shape the future of the Ethereum ecosystem through deep technical work on critical developer infrastructure, where your specific contributions will have a tangible impact.

About the teams

This role will work closely with two teams on closely related products: Hardhat and EDR, which together power the core of our Ethereum developer tooling stack.

The Hardhat team builds our established and market‑leading products. These are user-facing infrastructure that developers use to write, test, compile, and deploy their Solidity contracts for Ethereum networks. The Hardhat suite of products is widely used in the ecosystem, and supports developers end to end, from early experimentation to production systems with billions in on‑chain capital at stake.

The EDR (Ethereum Development Runtime) team builds a high-performance runtime in Rust for developer tooling. EDR currently powers Hardhat’s local network simulation for development and testing and is designed to be reused by other tools, supporting more consistent and maintainable execution across the Ethereum developer ecosystem.

This is a fully remote role, open to candidates based in Central Europe through the Americas Eastern Time zone.

Who we’re looking for

We are looking for a Senior Technical Product Manager to own and drive the Hardhat and EDR product roadmaps in alignment with Nomic’s long-term vision. Both products are developer-facing and highly complex technically. Their product surface is primarily a collection of APIs and CLI tools.

This is a senior individual contributor role working closely with engineering teams and ecosystem partners to define, prioritise, and deliver features that power Ethereum developer workflows and core infrastructure.

Minimum of 5 years of proven work experience as a Product Manager or Product Owner on technical, developer-facing products or platforms.

Minimum of 2 years of prior professional experience as a Software Engineer, with hands‑on work in a strongly typed language such as TypeScript, Rust, C++, C#, Java, or Go.

A strong user-focused product mindset, with demonstrated judgment around trade‑offs, collaborative problem-solving, and accountability for end‑to‑end outcomes.

Experience translating developer needs into clear product requirements, PRDs, and product design documentation.

Process-driven product work experience across discovery, design, iteration, and release cycles.

Ability to evaluate technical feasibility, architectural constraints, and engineering trade-offs from a product perspective, in close collaboration with engineers, enabling sound and pragmatic product decisions.

Experience building or managing developer tooling, such as APIs, SDKs, CLIs, IDE integrations, or infrastructure platforms, either as an engineer or product manager.

Exposure to Ethereum protocol, tooling, or developer workflows, with a practical understanding of related infrastructure.

What you’ll do

Own and execute product direction for Hardhat & EDR

Own, execute, and continuously refine the Hardhat and EDR product roadmaps in close collaboration with our CTO, our Head of Engineering, engineering managers, and engineering teams.

Act as the primary owner of product prioritisation decisions for “what we build next,” weighing developer impact, engineering cost, ecosystem needs, and long‑term strategy.

Act as the primary point of contact for engineers for product and UX guidance during feature development, ensuring consistency and a high quality user experience across our products.

Own senior product execution and decision‑making

Take over core product responsibilities currently handled by Head of Engineering and CTO, including writing PRDs and product documentation, structuring feature definitions, and maintaining alignment through regular 1:1s.

Ensure requirements are technically realistic, clearly scoped, and shaped by an understanding of ecosystem trade‑offs and long‑term implications.

Shape developer experience, APIs, and product design

Define UX expectations, API behavior, and developer‑facing feature design from the developer’s perspective.

Decide how new functionality should surface (API, CLI, interface, configuration, etc.), ensuring consistency and coherence across Hardhat and EDR.

Partner closely with engineering to maximise impact

Work closely with engineering teams to align on dependencies, sequencing, and trade‑offs.

Autonomously identify the highest‑impact problems, improve prioritisation of bugs and feedback, and help unblock development.

Build strong trust with engineering teams by representing the product perspective clearly, pragmatically, and consistently in both internal and ecosystem‑facing conversations.

We run robust engineering practices and lightweight processes that provide us with structure and fast decision-making. Your time will be spent on technical challenges, coding, and launching features.

We value diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.
