Job summary

Harmony AI is hiring an on-site Principal Product Engineer in Chattanooga, TN. You will own the internal platform architecture, define cross-plant data ontology, and accelerate deployments from weeks to days while writing code daily alongside the founders.

You will sit inside factories, build reusable platform tooling, and mentor deployment engineers to ensure scalable, high-trust implementations across customer sites.

Qualifications

  • 3-5+ years building and shipping production software.
  • Proficient in Python and TypeScript/React; comfortable across APIs, services, front end, and data.
  • Hands-on experience with Docker/K8s, Terraform, CI/CD, and observability in production environments.
  • Experience integrating with enterprise systems under security and compliance constraints.
  • Track record of building internal platforms, SDKs, or developer tooling that others adopt.
  • Good judgment about abstraction and avoiding over-generalization.

Responsibilities

  • Build abstractions to map a new customer’s systems into that model in days rather than weeks.
  • Work with field engineers to pressure-test the model against reality, not a whiteboard.
  • Create monorepo-friendly scaffolds, code-generation templates, and CI/CD blueprints for repeatable deployments.

Job description

You own the leverage. Set the architecture of the internal platform, define the ontology that lets one plant's data model transfer to the next, and turn a six-week implementation into a two-week one. A hands‑on role: you write code every day and work directly with the founders.

Location In-person only. Chattanooga, TN.

We help factories eliminate paper, manual data entry, and disconnected systems, replacing them with intelligent workflows that learn directly from the floor.

Our software connects machines, ERPs, and people in real time, turning tribal knowledge, production, and quality data into systems that run smoother, faster, and smarter.

Backed by the founders of HubSpot, Typeform, Apollo, Hustle Fund, Brickyard, and more.

AI automation for manufacturing.

We are here to reindustrialize America.

That means bringing world‑class technology back to the factory floor, empowering operators, restoring pride in American manufacturing, and helping people do their best work again.

We believe great companies are built by great people, together, in person. We train together, eat together, and build products that move the needle for real industries and real people.

Own the leverage.

Our forward‑deployed engineers sit inside factories and build on top of what those factories already run. That work is fast, specific, and high‑trust. It is also where the leverage is: every integration, adapter, and data model we build on‑site is something the next deployment should not have to rebuild.

You own that leverage. As Principal Product Engineer you set the architecture of the internal platform, define the ontology that lets one plant's data model transfer to the next, and decide what gets productized versus what stays custom. You are the person who turns a six‑week implementation into a two‑week implementation, and then keeps compressing it.

This is a hands‑on role. You will write code every day, work directly with the founders, and go on‑site when the problem calls for it.

Set the architecture. Build the leverage.
Own the ontology.
  • Define the shared data model that maps machines, ERPs, work orders, quality records, and people across wildly different plants.
  • Build the abstractions that let a deployment team map a new customer's systems into that model in days rather than weeks.
  • Work directly with FDEs in the field to pressure‑test the model against reality, not against a whiteboard.
Build for reuse (platform & tooling).
  • Create monorepo-friendly scaffolds (Turborepo/Nx patterns), code‑generation templates, and CI/CD blueprints for repeatable, high‑quality deployments.
  • Ship internal SDKs and adapters for common systems (auth, data ingestion, messaging, observability), plus CLI tools to spin up new services quickly.
  • Establish golden paths for linting, testing, release and versioning, and environment bootstrapping.
  • Channel field learnings into the core Harmony platform, deciding when to customize and when to productize.
Set the technical bar.
  • Make the architecture calls on services, data flow, and integration patterns, and write down why.
  • Raise the floor on testing, observability, and security across everything the team ships.
  • Mentor engineers on the deployment side so the platform gets used the way it was designed to be used.

What you bring on day one.
  • 3-5+ years building and shipping production software, including systems other engineers built on top of.
  • Proficient in Python and TypeScript/React; comfortable moving across APIs, services, front end, and data.
  • Hands‑on experience with Docker/K8s, Terraform, CI/CD, and observability in production environments.
  • Experience integrating with enterprise systems (SSO/OIDC/SAML, data sources) under security and compliance constraints.
  • Track record of building internal platforms, SDKs, or developer tooling that other people actually adopted.
  • Judgment about abstraction. You know when a pattern has appeared enough times to generalize, and when generalizing early would be a mistake.
  • Excellent communication with non-technical stakeholders; thrives in ambiguous, customer-facing, on-site work.
Examples, not requirements.
  • Languages & frontend: Python, TypeScript, React.
  • Data & services: Postgres, REST/GraphQL, queues, caching.
  • Developer experience: Monorepo (Turborepo/Nx), CI/CD, testing, observability (logs, metrics, traces).
  • Nice to have: AI/LLM productionization, batching, evals, latency optimization, guardrails.
What you get.
  • In-person only, full-time.
  • Gym, sauna, steam room, and cold plunge access. HQ is in Chattanooga, TN, headquartered out of Brickyard .
  • High-equity compensation.
  • Work directly with the founders every day with full ownership.
  • High-trust, high-intensity environment built on craft, speed, and impact.
  • Frequent team dinners with the community.
