Job summary

MTU Aero Engines North America, Inc. is seeking a Senior Technical Powerplant Engineer I in Rocky Hill to lead engine shop visit oversight under FMP and other agreements, while advising Fleet Technical Managers on maintenance strategies.

The role balances cost, reliability, and safety across GTF programs. You will mentor early-career engineers, influence workscopes, and coordinate with Pratt & Whitney finance to optimize lifecycle value.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience in gas turbine, MRO, or powerplant preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with engine hardware, MRO shop visits, fleet management, or cost analysis preferred.
  • Customer-facing experience and ability to manage multiple projects preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership for engine shop visits and ensure technical/commercial objectives align with safety and program goals.
  • Act as trusted engineering advisor to Fleet Technical Managers and Powerplant Engineers worldwide; influence scopes and decisions.
  • Lead investigations and root-cause analyses to improve time-on-wing, reliability, and overhaul costs.
  • Drive cost analyses and provide technical/financial insights to inform maintenance strategies.
  • Define expectations and oversee outsourced workscopes to MTU standards; mentor junior engineers.
