Job summary

Jobtailor in Seattle seeks an experienced Technical Designer to drive the development of apparel products from concept to production. You will develop Tech Packs, manage fit sessions, and collaborate with pattern engineers, design, and suppliers to meet calendar milestones.

The role requires 5+ years in Technical Design, fluency with 3D apparel tools (Browzwear/CLO/Optitex), and proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and PAT/Lifecycle software.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree preferably in Apparel Design, Apparel Manufacturing, Pattern Making or related field or equivalent industry experience.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in Technical Design or related field.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Clear, effective written and verbal communication.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Experience fully developing fashioned sweaters.
  • Working knowledge of Grade Rules and tolerances.
  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management Software.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite - Illustrator, Photoshop.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Working experience communicating with vendors where English may not be their first language.
  • Exposure to fit model go-sees and measuring live models.
  • 3D apparel development experience preferred: Browzwear, CLO, Optitex
  • 2D pattern software experience preferred: Gerber Accumark, Optitex

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional peers and external partners to align products with development strategies and business needs.
  • Develop Tech Packs including measurement worksheets and construction images.
  • Evaluate samples for specifications, quality, and construction standards.
  • Follow samples through fit approvals to production.
  • Communicate fit comments to suppliers to achieve desired corrections.
  • Streamline product development and production processes, escalating when leadership involvement is needed.
  • Build supplier relationships and maintain dialogue regarding capacity and calendars.
  • Align and deliver to agreed calendar milestones.
  • Partner with Pattern Engineering and Design on block pattern development.
  • Analyze market research and customer review data to drive recommendations.
  • Conduct wear tests.
  • Maintain sample organization throughout development and production.
  • Work across various categories and product types.
  • Schedule and lead fit sessions.
  • Participate in special projects.
  • Partner with and mentor new hires through Technical Design stations.
