The role centers on MTM fittings, tech packs, and accurate grading for professional wear and Made-to-Measure (MTM) garments, acting as the bridge between product development and production with strong Illustrator and Excel/PLM skills.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years in apparel technical design (professional wear and tailored suiting).
  • MTM knowledge: client fittings and translating adjustments into garment measurements.
  • Technical skills: flat sketching with Illustrator; spec building with Excel/PLM.
  • Deep knowledge of garment construction and high-end tailoring techniques.

Responsibilities

  • MTM fittings: conduct in-person fittings and identify fit adjustments.
  • Factory communication: liaise with manufacturers to troubleshoot production issues and ensure quality.
  • Tech packs & specs: create and maintain production-ready tech packs with tech sketches and grading rules.
  • Technical drawing: produce accurate 2D flat sketches with interior details using Illustrator.
  • Garment fit & tailoring: oversee fit sessions, assess samples, and apply tailoring knowledge to construction.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: work with design and product development to ensure construction matches design.

Stock Mfg. Co. designs and manufactures premium, modern uniforms and custom apparel for top hospitality and corporate brands. We blend retail-quality fashion with everyday durability, and we’re looking for a skilled Technical Designer to ensure our garments fit flawlessly.

The Role

We are seeking a Technical Designer with a strong background in structured suiting, professional wear, and Made-to-Measure (MTM) garments. You will bridge the gap between Product developers and production by creating precise tech packs, executing technical drawings, and leading fit sessions to and inspect production for quality control.

Key Responsibilities
  • MTM Fittings: Conduct in-person Made-to-Measure fittings directly with clients, expertly identifying necessary fit adjustments.
  • Factory Communication: Maintain clear and consistent communication with manufacturing partners to troubleshoot production issues and ensure quality standards.
  • Tech Packs & Specs: Create and maintain detailed, production-ready tech packs, including Tech Sketches and grading rules.
  • Technical Drawing: Produce accurate 2D flat sketches (including interior details) using Adobe Illustrator.
  • Garment Fit & Tailoring: Oversee fit sessions, assess samples, and utilize deep expertise in construction and fit.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work alongside the design and product development teams to verify that final construction aligns with the design vision.
  • Quality Control & Measuring: Conduct rigorous quality control (QC) inspections on incoming samples and production shipments, measuring garments against spec sheets to identify and document tolerances or defects.
Qualifications
  • Experience: 10+ years in apparel technical design, with a specific focus on professional wear and tailored suiting.
  • MTM Knowledge: Hands-on experience conducting client fittings and converting those adjustments into full garment measurements
  • Technical Skills: Mastery of Adobe Illustrator for flat sketching and Excel/PLM for spec building.
  • Expertise: Deep knowledge of garment construction, high-end tailoring techniques, and fabric behavior.
Compensation
  • Base Salary of $75,000
  • Bi-annual profit sharing based on company revenue targets
