Job summary

Steve Madden is seeking a Senior Technical Designer to join our NYC Wholesale Apparel team, owning the technical design process from development through pre-production. You will ensure fit, construction, and design intent while partnering with Designers and overseas factories.

This role requires 10+ years in technical design, deep expertise in garment construction, pattern-making, and tailoring, plus strong communication and collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of Technical Design experience in fashion-forward apparel.
• Deep expertise in garment construction, fit, pattern-making, and tailoring.
• Ability to translate creative vision into production-ready specs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with cross-functional partners.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical design lifecycle from development to pre-production.
• Collaborate with Designers to translate concepts into production-ready specs.
• Conduct fit sessions and provide actionable feedback.
• Communicate corrections to overseas factories with clear notes, photos, and diagrams.
• Proactively resolve technical, production, and costing challenges throughout development.
• Manage multiple styles and deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
