Job summary

Liberty Mutual Insurance seeks a Senior Technical Claims Specialist I or II to manage Commercial Casualty Excess/Umbrella claims through the full lifecycle, including coverage, reserves, investigations, negotiations, and settlements within authority limits.

The role requires coordinating with Home Office Legal, Defense Counsel, and Claims teams, handling complex exposures, mass torts, auto and premises liability across the United States. Some in-office attendance is required.

Qualifications

• Advanced to expert knowledge of commercial casualty claims investigation, coverage, reserving, expense management, resolution strategy, negotiation.
• Experience with claims evaluation and insurance regulatory environment.
• Mentor staff and serve as a subject matter expert.
• Ability to adapt to multiple claim systems.

Responsibilities

• Investigate claims, determine coverage and liability, set reserves, and negotiate settlements.
• Lead coordination with Home Office Legal and Defense Counsel based on allegations.
• Manage outside counsel practices and billing; ensure secure processing of claims.
• Stay informed on legislation and trends affecting specialty coverage.
