Job summary

GE Vernova is seeking a highly technical TAE to provide expert technical support for Grid Automation M&D customers. You will build relationships, lead from inception to closure, and guide customers through pre-sales decisions and post-sales support.

You will develop technical proposals, train customers and teams, coordinate with sales, engineering and product management, and help integrate M&D products with customer systems using DNP3, Modbus and IEC 61850.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or technology required, accredited program.
  • Minimum 10 years in industrial/utility monitoring and diagnostics of transformers, breakers, and related software.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.

Job Description Summary

The TAE will be highly technical, customer focused and self-motivated in providing expert technical support for GE Vernova Grid Automation M&D customers. The TAE will be responsible for building relationships with customers and for leading and managing all activities from inception of a customer request to successful conclusion. The TAE will lead the customer through pre-sales decisions and provide technical support for post sales.

Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
  • Act as expert consultant to guide customers in planning and development of technical solutions for their monitoring needs
  • Interpret transformers and circuit breaker specifications, single line diagrams, customer best practices, system integration needs, and convert to product specifications
  • Coordinate with sales teams to make customer calls and presentations and participate in bid meetings and site walk-through meetings with customers as necessary.
  • Develop technical proposals, ensuring compliance to Customer's specs by working closely with engineering, product managers, and proposal managers
  • Customize and present targeted technical papers and presentations at technical conferences, to customers or internal in support of sales or service
  • Provide market dynamics input such as competitive intelligence or voice of customer feedback to the product technology and service teams and act as a link from the customer to services, marketing, engineering and product development teams
  • Provide product training and application training to customers, sales force, and TAE, Customer Service and Field Services teams
  • Lead customers in architecting, commissioning, and testing new products, solutions and pilot projects
  • Assist customers in configuration and troubleshooting of M&D products integration into customer systems over various communication channels and protocols (DNP3, Modbus, IEC 61850)
  • Analyze results from the monitoring equipment and assist customers with recommended actions or settings modifications
  • Develop knowledge of GE Vernova Grid Automation complementary product lines to M&D such as Protection and Control, Industrial Communications, Services, Software. Act as link between the customers and other GE Vernova Grid Automation product lines
  • Track issues discovered during demonstration, evaluation, testing of product and pilot projects and follow through with Technology team to provide a resolution
  • Identify training opportunities and assume ownership for self-development and training of others
  • Analyze large customer fleets of monitoring equipment and determine opportunities for product upgrades of obsolete products
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or technology from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 10 years of Industrial and utility monitoring and diagnostics of transformers, circuit breakers, related software applications, and communications of monitoring devices to customer systems, including hands-on troubleshooting
  • Ability to maintain professional demeanor and interact with all levels of customers, from electricians to C-level
  • Must be willing to travel up to 50% of the time
Desired Characteristics
  • Demonstrated extensive experience in substations and substation equipment
  • Experience using GE Vernova and other brands of Monitoring and Diagnostics products
  • Understand the multiple transformer and circuit breakers failure modes, along with DGA gas diagnostics, Bushing diagnostics and Partial Discharge
  • Deep experience in SCADA protocols such as Modbus, DNP3, IEC 61850. (Knowledge of MQTT is a plus) and communication topologies
  • Capable to devise solutions to fit customer data integration and cybersecurity needs
  • Strong creative and problem-solving skills

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $113,200.00 and $188,800.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
