The Senior Accountant in Financial Reporting will provide advanced expertise in preparing financial analyses, metrics, and reports, and will complete special projects as required. This role involves preparing and reviewing SEC filings, coordinating with external auditors, and maintaining a thorough understanding of GAAP and SEC guidelines.

Job Highlights

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation)

  • Technical Accounting:
    • Research and provide consultation on new accounting pronouncements and relevant GAAP issues.
    • Write white papers on complex accounting transactions including contracts with customers, unique vendor arrangements, and debt offerings.
    • Maintain a current understanding of GAAP and SEC guidelines; research technical accounting issues and draft memos on technical accounting matters.
  • Month End Accounting/Equity Administration
    • Expertise in equity compensation accounting, including stock-based compensation programs, stock options, phantom stock awards, SARs.
      • Oversee the administration of global equity compensation programs, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and partner closely with the shareholder relations team.
      • Prepare and review equity compensation accounting, including stock-based compensation programs.
      • Prepare and provide information to employees about vesting schedules, exercise processes, and eligibility.
      • Prepare new hire and other stock grants, process employee transactions to exercise options.
      • Maintain and update stock databases, prepare reports, and perform analysis.
      • Proficiency in using equity software (Shareworks, E*trade, etc), for equity plan administration and financial reporting.
      • Prepare monthly equity roll forward procedures.
    • Review variance analysis on periodic financial statements and prepare Significant Items Analysis for Audit Committee meetings and other monthly/quarterly deliverables.
  • Financial Reporting
    • Own the process around month end reporting – Executive package, GAAP Financial Statements.
    • Partner with the accounting team on the monthly close process in Workday.
    • Maintain Workiva Chains and expand reporting automation for financial reports in Workiva.
    • Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements in Workiva (Wdesk), including reviewing footnotes and schedules, drafting relevant disclosures, and coordinating comments from multiple parties.
      • Own and prepare financial statement disclosure checklists and tie-out support.
      • Coordinate comments from multiple parties for financial disclosures.
      • Collaborate closely with various departments to ensure compliance with regulatory and company requirements.
    • Prepare quarterly Shareholders Package, Audit Committee, and Board of Directors presentations.
  • Other
    • Monitor accounting procedures, propose automation opportunities, and analyze results.
    • Drive continuous improvement by identifying, developing, and implementing process and system solutions.
    • Coordinate and interface with external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits.
    • Prepares financial analyses, including trending, productivity metrics, revenue cycle, and other ad hoc projects, as well as financial reports and graphic presentations.
    • Handle confidential material regularly and protect the confidentiality of such information.
    • Help support the process of maintaining company’s accounting policies and internal control documents.
    • Organize individual work schedules and establish priorities for project completion within management guidelines.
    • Perform additional duties as needed.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES (KSAs):
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related area required; Master’s or CPA preferred.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and other relevant accounting standards.
  • Ability to research and interpret complex accounting issues.
  • Perform complex accounting analyses including accounting for strategic alliances, business combinations/JV, significant contracts, and derivatives.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Three to five years of healthcare experience preferred.
  • Experience with Workiva, Workday, Shareworks a plus.
  • Superior analytical abilities, including the ability to identify issues, problems, and solutions.
  • Superior mathematical aptitude, including the ability to build formulas for performing analysis.
  • Ability to work independently and under deadlines, demonstrating solid professional judgment.
  • Skill in verbal and written communication in English.
  • Ability to identify discrepancies, propose solutions, and implement corrective actions.
  • Proficient in gathering and reporting information.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping and stretching.
  • Must possess sufficient eye-hand coordination/manual dexterity to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment.
  • Required normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports and evaluations.
  • Requires lifting papers and boxes weighing up to 35 pounds occasionally.
  • Requires dexterity to type at least 35 wpm.

WORKING CONDITIONS (environment and safety):

  • Work performed in office and remote environments.
  • Involves frequent contact with professional staff and managed care organizations.
  • Work may be stressful at times.
  • Interaction with others is frequent and often disruptive.
