Job summary

Gensler seeks a Senior Tech R&D Lab Planner to join our Advanced Tech team in Seattle. This interior architecture role targets a lab planning specialist with 10+ years of experience in complex R&D environments.

An architectural license is preferred but not required; the role focuses on supporting AI hardware design in dry lab settings. You will lead planning and programming, collaborate with clients and engineers, mentor junior designers, and balance technical, operational, and spatial

Qualifications

• 10+ years of architectural experience in lab/technical environments.
• Licensure preferred but not required.
• Strong ability to translate client needs into functional lab layouts.
• Experience collaborating with stakeholders across disciplines and with external consultants.
• Knowledge of lab programming delivery, space planning, and MEP considerations.
• LEED accreditation or knowledge of sustainable design encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Develop laboratory planning strategies for new and renovated spaces.
• Provide technical design oversight and ensure QA/QC of plans and details.
• Lead project management and client coordination through design to construction.
• Guide junior designers and mentor team members on R&D lab projects.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and stakeholders to optimize adjacencies and workflows.
