Job summary

Altarum is seeking a Technical Lead, Learning Platforms to provide hands-on leadership for the Direct Care Careers platform, a multi-tenant workforce solution across states. You will guide the engineering team, design LMS integrations, and ensure scalable, secure, and accessible software while adopting AI-assisted development tools responsibly.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software development experience with hands-on coding.
• Experience building and integrating LMS with APIs, SSO, and learning content standards.
• Experience leading developers technically while contributing to codebase.
• Strong API integrations, identity and access technologies (OIDC/SAML).
• Experience in multi-tenant or shared-platform environments and CI/CD.

Responsibilities

• Write, review, test, and ship production quality code as a senior engineer.
• Lead day-to-day technical work through code reviews, mentoring, and standards.
• Design, build, and maintain LMS integrations including SSO and content standards.
• Implement platform features, state-specific configurations, and reusable components.
• Define architecture decisions with leadership and communicate risks to stakeholders.
• Promote robust test, release, security, and accessibility practices (WCAG 2.1 AA, 508).
• Facilitate Agile ceremonies and maintain a ready backlog with estimable stories.
• Leverage AI-assisted tools for coding, testing, documentation, and automation.
• Collaborate on build-vs-buy, estimates, and future platform capabilities.
