Job summary

A.R. Mazzotta is seeking a Tax Manager or Senior Tax Manager with a strong public accounting background in New Haven County.

This hands-on role leads complex engagements, advises a diverse client base, and mentors staff, with 7+ years of public tax experience and a CPA or EA designation. The position offers direct-hire, permanent employment with a competitive salary range ($125,000–$175,000) and flexible work arrangements, plus benefits such as health and disability insurance, 401(k) with profit

Qualifications

• 7+ years of recent public accounting tax experience
• Active CPA or Enrolled Agent designation
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
• Strong federal and multistate tax knowledge
• Proven experience reviewing returns and managing tax engagements
• Client advisory and relationship management experience
• Leadership, supervisory, and mentoring experience
• Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills

Responsibilities

• Lead tax engagements from planning through completion
• Review complex individual, partnership, corporate, S corporation, fiduciary, and nonprofit returns
• Provide tax planning, research, projections, and client advisory services
• Handle federal and state tax notices, examinations, and audits
• Research and resolve complex tax matters
• Manage client relationships and provide practical tax guidance
• Supervise, train, and mentor staff and senior accountants
• Manage multiple engagements, deadlines, and client priorities
