Job summary

Express Employment Professionals is seeking an experienced Tax Manager for a local accounting firm. You will review and prepare federal, state, and local returns for individuals, partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, trusts, and estates.

You will research complex tax issues, oversee extensions and estimated payments, assist with IRS notices and audits, and serve as the primary contact for assigned clients while mentoring junior staff and contributing to hiring and performance reviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required.
• CPA license preferred but not required.
• 5–8+ years of public accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state taxation.
• Experience reviewing tax returns and managing client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Review and prepare federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, trusts, and estates.
• Research complex tax issues and provide well-reasoned conclusions and recommendations.
• Oversee extensions, estimated payments, and tax projections.
• Assist with IRS and state tax notices, audits, and correspondence.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned clients.
• Manage multiple tax engagements simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
• Train and mentor junior staff on tax preparation, review techniques, and professional development.
